The Centre is beholding an amount of Rs.7,200 crore. National scholarship scheme for the students who hold an excellent academic record from class 9 to post-graduation. The condition is that they must belong to the reserved categories i.e., SC, OBC, Denotified, Nomadic and semi-Nomadic Tribe (DNT) and economically backward caste (EBC). For the well-being of the senior citizens, a national action scheme has been formed. The main motto of this scheme is to engross the senior citizens in tutoring and keeping an eye on the students for the proposed scholarship plan. It’s probably entitled as PM-Yasasvi (PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India). Earlier in this month, both schemes were considered at the meeting of the sectoral group of secretaries headed by Prime Minister NarendraModi. Both these schemes are going to receive a green signal soon. These plans might commence during the next month’s budgetary declarations. For  SCs, OBCs, DNTs, EBCs and other disadvantaged sections, the government has an abundance of pre-matric and post-secondary scholarship programmes. Because of different implementation in various states, all these schemes vary its standards and outcomes. In some cases, a grade-based method isn’t used and resumptions are complex. According to an official, the post-secondary plan is still backdated to 1944 and needs up-gradation to accustom with this generation. The responsibility for 90% of the financial freight for regulating the scheme was on states after 2017. This has affected their executions, with funds many a time not outstretching to the inheritors. The social justice and empowerment ministry will be selecting the students based on credit test which will be held between June and July 2020 and will be gripping all other scholarship plans under PM-Yasasvi, which already exists. In the first year itself, around 85 lakh scholars are been estimated. The scholarship amount will be credited directly to the student’s bank account which will include maintenance and tuition fees of the receiver with some additional total for extra schooling stuff. To certify the accountability, an online tracking tool will installed to evaluate student’s progress. Against Rs 6,000 crore budgetary granting for the present set of plans, the estimated cost will be about Rs 7,200 crore per year for implementing it. To unbolt the capacity of the senior citizens of the country, PM-Yasasvi is being associated with the national action plan. Self-help groups and academic organizations may pay them or they might go as an unpaid worker for this or various social issues. It is considered that the percentage of the older population will hike from 8.6% in 2011 to 19.1% by 2050.
