Engineering as a famous career option among most of the students and it is the reason being many of the students these days pursue engineering as their career building option but they failed to build their career as they end up being jobless.

India every year produces nearly 2 million engineers from nearly 4000 institutes by them all do not get jobs.

Why?

Let’s look at the reasons behind it,

i. Job Factor:

Is a great demand and supply mismatch is the job market for engineers. No. of engineers today is much more than the numbers of job that is available in India right now for those engineers.

ii. Lack of Skill:

education in India today is focused on theoretical teaching more than practical knowledge and these the reason why engineers do not have enough skills to join any company as do not get that much practical exposure to their theoretical knowledge. A New-Delhi based company conducted a study on 1, 50,000 engineering graduates who were graduated in 2013 and published a shocking result that only 3 per cent of them have that skill to get employed and only 7 per cent of them have that skill to handle core engineering tasks.

iii. Location Factor:

Is an important factor on which employability of engineers greatly depends. Students from various places in India do not get the same chance of getting employed. For example, students from tier 2 or tier 3 cities do not get the same chance of getting employed than that of students from tier 1 cities.

iv. Poor Quality of Education:

Quality of education has been a factor that affects the employability chance of engineers for a long time. The students from tier 1 engineering institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or National Institute of Technology (NIT) get high quality of education and also get chance to apply their knowledge to a practical problem. That is the reason they get a better opportunity than the students of other engineering institutes.

v. Examination:

Quality of students in India is decided upon the score they get from examinations. That is the reason students do not apply their knowledge. They study to pass in the examination rather apply knowledge to the real-life problems.

It seems that these problems are going to end soon as many institutes are focusing now on practical teaching also with theoretical teaching.
